At Horner Roberts, we are extremely aware of the need for conservation of our planet’s resources.
The use of timber, in itself, is carbon neutral. However, to achieve this neutrality, the timber has to come from sustainable sources, and the energy used in furniture production needs to be kept to a minimum. We have addressed these two issues, but periodically we revisit them to keep abreast of the latest developments.
Sustainable timbers
Wherever possible we use timber that is the FSC (Forest
Stewardship Council) certified.
However, there is a lot of sustainably managed timber that does not have
this certification. We always satisfy ourselves as to the credibility
of the source of the material and avoid any purchases that are of unknown
origin.
Our carbon footprint
Continued investment in larger machinery has resulted
in greater efficiency as well as greater safety for our staff, which
means that our consumption of electricity over the last three years has
decreased relative to our production level.
